Course Overview
The aims of the A/S Economics course are:
- Appreciate the contribution of economics to the
understanding of the wider economic and social environment.
- Develop an understanding and use of a range of concepts
in a variety of different contexts.
- Use an enquiring, critical and thoughtful approach to the
study of economics and develop an ability to think as an economist.
- Understand that economic behaviour can be studied from a
range of perspectives.
- Develop analytical and quantitative skills, together with
qualities and attitudes that will equip students for the challenges,
opportunities and responsibilities of adult and working
life.

Course Highlights
In the first year of the course students will be introduced
to:
Markets and Market Sailure - Students will
consider how markets work, looking at how supply and demand interact to allocate
resources in local, national, and international markets.
The UK Economy – Performance and Policies.
Students will be introduced to the aggregate demand/aggregate supply model so
that they can use it to analyse changes in real output and the price
level.

Students can progress onto university, apprenticeships
and employment following this course.

Assessment
2 Externally assessed papers.
|
Entry Requirements
Learners will typically have five GCSE’s at A* to C (9-1),
including English and maths.
Maths must be a minimum of grade 5.
