The College’s Diploma in Creative Digital Media Production is a practical vocational course aimed at students wanting to develop a range of research, creative and production skills media and print media. Students will work with Media Companies to pitch, and production crews to script and storyboard, edit and present documentaries. Students will develop professional understandings of the industry and the skills required to succeed. They will also have the opportunity to create and develop a broad media portfolio to enhance their university or media career prospects.

Students will enjoy this subject if they like to learn through practical, hands-on assignments, writing and relish working in a diverse range of media productions. There are two external exams.

Course Specific Trips & Visits

The College runs a number of educational experiences each year to enable students to contextualise their learning. These experiences include trips and talks by visiting speakers from the Media Industry.

Recently, Media students were part of the studio audience on ITV’s Loose Women. Watching the live broadcast reinforced the lessons on camera work and editing. They also visited The Harry Potter Studios at Levesdon to participate in a story-boarding masterclass and study the set and costume designs.

Career Opportunities & Further Study
This course provides a useful background for academic or vocational courses at university, including Ravensbourne and/or employment in Media industries eg production companies, PR, Advertising, Music industry or teaching/lecturing in Media.

The course is assessed through coursework and 2 external exams. Students achieve points from their completed units. These points are added together to form an overall grade.

Entry Requirements

Students wishing to do BTEC Level 3 courses, need to have (or expect to achieve) at least four GCSE passes at Grade 4 or above including English and Mathematics (and a satisfactory school reference) in order to be accepted on a BTEC Level 3 Programme.

The course is assessed through coursework and two external exams. Students achieve points from their completed units. These points are added together to form an overall grade.
