Course Overview
This course will give you an in-depth knowledge of the travel and tourism industry, one of the most important
contributors to the UK economy and an exciting industry to work in. You will investigate a wide range of topics
designed to add to your developing knowledge of the industry and reflect your own career aspirations. Topics include: The World of Travel and Tourism, Global Destinations, Visitor Attractions and Principles of Marketing in Travel and Tourism.

Course Highlights
The College organises educational experiences each year, including trips, visiting speakers, residentials, and work experience. Visits have been made to the De Vere Selsdon Estate, Nutfield Priory, Hallmark Hotel, Majestic Wines, The Hilton Hotel Croydon, No.1 Lounge, Virgin Atlantic, British Airways, and The Food and Drink Expo.

Career Opportunities & Further Study
Many Travel and Tourism students go on to study degrees related to this subject at university, such as Event Management, Tourism Management, or Hospitality Management. Others may opt to gain industry experience in the Airline Industry, Resort Services, Tourism and Hospitality, or Trainee Management posts. A qualification in Travel and Tourism provides essential knowledge of the industry and helps prepare students for Higher Education or employment.

Assessment
Students will enjoy this course if they are able to:
- Complete coursework in various forms
- Simulate activities such as welcome meetings for tour arrivals
- Engage in practical work such as planning and running a residential trip
- Complete independent research
The course is assessed purely through coursework. Students will complete 3 units of coursework each year. The exam board for this course is Pearson BTEC.

Entry Requirements
Four GCSEs grade 9-4 and a satisfactory school reference.Including English Language at grade 4 and maths at
grade 4 as a minimum.
