Course Overview
This course will introduce you to a variety of materials and techniques that will help you progress onto further learning. You will develop your skills and knowledge over the course of the year, learning the transferable and specific sector skills. A variety of topics and materials will include: still life, oil pastels, colouring, mark-making, clay, photography and screen printing.

On completion you will be able to progress to Level 2 Diploma in Art & Design, inclusive of Graphic Design and Illustration, and Level 2 Games & Animation.

Assessment
Assessment methods are tailored to align with the course's objectives, ensuring that learners have opportunities to demonstrate their skills in practical scenarios. All units are internally assessed and graded to support skills development and performance.
Grading: Assessments are graded on a scale of Distinction, Merit, Pass, and Unclassified. To earn a qualification, learners must achieve at least a Pass in all assessment criteria for each unit.

Entry Requirements
GCSE grade 9-2 (A*-E) in English and maths. Equivalence of these qualifications will be considered. Evidence of a commitment to learn and the ability to study at this level shown at interview. You will also need to show an art portfolio, containing recent examples of creative work you have done.
