Course Overview
This course is a foundation to Access Level 3, if you are
not ready to progress to the Level 3 Access to Higher Education qualification.
You can develop your academic skills of critical thinking, evaluation and
analysis. All of which will prepare you for university.
This is a qualification designed for:
o The Level 2
course is delivered over two days.
o The qualification is designed to
support learners to develop skills and knowledge needed for progression to
further learning at Level 3.
o Students can study English and Maths
alongside this course.
The qualification is called The OCNLR Level 2 Certificate in
Skills for Further Study in Humanities and Social
Science.

Course Highlights
o The course includes modules in Introduction to
Criminal Law, Introduction to Law in the United Kingdom, Understanding Young
People Law and Order, Essay Writing, Referencing Skills Technology, Oral
Communication Skills and Spreadsheets.
o Alongside this you will build
your skills in preparing for university, UCAS and personal statement research,
referencing and independent study.
o 1 to 1 Workshop with the National
Careers Advisor – advice on employment, progression and CV.

Career Opportunities & Further Study
Upon successful completion of your course, you can enter
full-time employment, or you can progress on to an Access to HE Level 3
Diploma:
• Access to Criminology and Policing Level 3 or you can move on
to whichever Level 3 Access to HE programme you decide.

Assessment
o Class tutors will use a variety of assessment
methods: formal reports, presentations, written assessments, in-class and
practice assessments under controlled conditions.

Entry Requirements
You must be aged 19 and above. Each application will be
considered on an individual basis. Selection is by interview, initial screening,
literacy and numeracy assessments.
• Candidates are required to have GCSE English Language
grade D or grade 3 or Functional Skills Level 1
• GCSE maths – D or
grade 3 or Functional Skills Level 1
• Equivalent overseas academic
qualifications will be accepted on this course.
• A satisfactory
reference must be received.
• Students must be completely committed to
hard work and are required to maintain (100%) full attendance throughout the
course.
