Course Overview
This course has been designed to allow learners with a passion for acting and performing, regardless of their previous training or level of knowledge, to acquire the practical skills and subject knowledge to progress steadily throughout the course and progress to year two. The aim of the course is to introduce you to the fundamental skills of acting and performing with a view to progress to the extended diploma and then onto higher education, the industry or a pathway of your own choosing. Year one is comprised of two units, one unit is at least 85% practical and divided into three separate practical assignments (one each term) and the second unit is a year-long research unit based on a role of your own choosing within the industry. Through a series of lecturer led workshops, guest lecturer workshops, group work and discussion, research and pure play you will grow as an actor and critically reflective learner.

Course Highlights
During your time on the course you will act and perform a lot, this is the sole purpose of the course. You will also participate in practical workshops from visiting industry professionals, regular trips to the theatre and other industry related trips and there is always the possibility that you will have access to professional auditions, which could see you taking on professional work.

Career Opportunities & Further Study
There are many pathways open to you following completion of this course, whether you want to continue your training and education at drama school or university, enter the industry as a working professional or choose another pathway that suits you, you will have the full support of your lecturer and the college.

Assessment
There are no exams on this course. You are continually assessed throughout the academic year and will receive regular verbal and written feedback. You will be awarded a particular grade for each assignment; these individual grades are then added together at the end of the academic year to give you an indication of the level you are working at.

Entry Requirements

You will need at least four GCSE qualifications at grade 4 or above to be considered for the course. If you do not have a 4 in English and/or Math then you will be required to study these at the appropriate level to you alongside your main study programme.
