Useful Information
This BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Art and Design is equivalent to
two A Levels. The course equips students with in-depth knowledge into a wide
selection of areas within the creative fields of Fine Art, Design and Textiles.
The course structure can allow the qualification to be flexible to meet
learners’ interests, abilities and aspirations.
Students can add an A Level in an Art based subject to make
a full-time Art package. Students are asked to make a £20 contribution towards
materials at the beginning of each year and are expected to have their own
drawing and painting materials for use at home.

Course Overview
For the BTEC Level 3 Diploma, there are six mandatory units
(3 of which are externally assessed), plus two optional units from a range of
professional specialist areas including Fine Art, Graphic Design, Textiles and
Photography.
Students will contribute to the course Blogs, Youtube and
Flickr pages as well as build their own e-portfolio. Upper Sixth students hang
and host a public exhibition at the end of their course.
The essential elements of the course give students a
comprehensive knowledge of the fundamentals of Art and Design – techniques and
materials, concepts and influences, visual recording and communication – which
allow them to eventually specialise in an area of their
choice.

Career Opportunities & Further Study

develops the necessary techniques and attitudes to begin a successful
