Course Overview

The course will help you build up a portfolio of coursework and experience to support your future career. You will learn about topics such as the online world, website software and computer networks.

The course includes a wide range of activities which include role plays, presentations and practical sessions which lend themselves to real life projects. These projects can include installing computer hardware and software, designing and creating websites and games including an introduction to basic coding.

We have fantastic, state of the art resources! You will be taught in well-equipped classrooms, with interactive whiteboards and the latest technology, including class ipads and our virtual learning environment.

We also have a very well equipped library and learning resource centre with plenty of computers for independent study and amazing library facilities.

Good English and Maths skills are essential for success in studying and for future employment prospects and so Croydon College ensures that these skills are developed in all learning opportunities.

Career Opportunities & Further Study

This course provides thorough preparation for the next stage of your career to enable you to progress with confidence to either further study or employment with training.

Successful completion will allow you to progress onto the next level of a selection of programmes like IT, Travel, Media and Business and subsequently move on into University.

Alternatively, you may prefer to use your qualification to go straight into employment and work in the retail and admin sector or move into apprenticeships. The skills you will have developed will open up a wide range of opportunities at a junior level.

Students have, in the past, gone into areas of work such as technical support, administration, software development and hardware/software sales.



Assessment

Assessments are primarily portfolio based along with a few externally assessed modules.

Assessments may also be practically assessed in the IT workshops.



Entry Requirements

Three GCSEs at grades 3/D as a minimum OR a related Level 1 vocational qualification;

AND;

Including a GCSE at grade 3/D (or equivalent) as a minimum in English OR English and Mathematics assessed at Entry 3 or above by College assessment.

A satisfactory reference may also be requested.
