Course Overview
You
will be introduced to knowledge, gaining life skills of cooking and set up a
pathway to an education in culinary skills. At the E3 level you will be
introduced to the basics of kitchen rules and regulations. You will cover Health
and Safety in the Workplace and Food Safety. Some techniques of cookery will be
taught and assessed such as Boiling, Baking and Stewing. There will also be
exposure to service in the restaurant.

Course Highlights
Employers may provide demonstrations and talks on the industry. You
will be encouraged to visit restaurants of all types from gastro pubs to
top-quality establishments.

Career Opportunities & Further Study
Once you have
achieved this qualification you could plan to progress through to level 1 to
further your learning within the college. The type of roles that you can go into
are commis chef, working in one of these establishment:
Restaurants
Hotels
Hospitality events
Cruise liners
Private household events

Assessment
You will be assessed using practical demonstrations and written
assignments.

Entry Requirements
Interest in chosen course and aspiration to continue the
study of English and Mathematics.
A satisfactory reference will
also be requested showing a minimum of 85% attendance.
