Course Overview

This course is designed for those who have an interest in engineering, with a desire to have a career within this sector. We will provide you with the practical experience and the technical knowledge to work in the engineering industry and you will develop the skills that you will have learnt on a Level 1 course. This programme is delivered through a combination of theory lessons and practical work in our contemporary engineering workshop.

Throughout the course you will study a wide range of subjects, including engineering marking out, interpreting and using engineering information, using CAD, casting and moulding, and health and safety practices.

Good English and Maths skills are essential for success in studying and for future employment prospects and so Croydon College ensures that these skills are developed in all learning opportunities.

Course Highlights

Specialist Facilities:

This programme is delivered by our fully qualified and professional staff. You will benefit from working with CAD/CAM machinery, a PLC suite, Instrumentation & Control software and hardware, Rapid Prototyper (3D Printer), as well as industry standard workshops with modern technology.

You will have the opportunity to design and manufacture an engineered project component. This will be achieved by using computer aided design and the engineering milling and lathe machine tools.

Employer Links:

A key distinguishing feature of the college is our links with employers and the ways in which we incorporate this into your learning. Employers such as Gatwick Airport attend our popular employability events and you can discuss apprenticeships and progression opportunities in our employability hub or in the apprenticeship office.

Career Opportunities & Further Study

Completion of this course can lead to progression to our Level 3 engineering programme.

Alternatively, you can enter employment as an apprentice within the engineering industry. Future careers can include aerospace engineering, electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, and aircraft maintenance.
