This course covers units across a wide and exciting range of specialisms. You will learn business skills which you can then put into action.The dynamic teaching team has excellent links with both large and local small employers and part of your learning will be engaging with them to put your skills into practice, networking and developing your business acumen.

Your learning experience is designed to stretch you to achieve your best and develop skills for your future career. You will put the skills you learn into practice – getting involved in a wide range of assessments which includes role plays, presentations and practical sessions which lend themselves to real life projects. You will also gain an insight into the business world including the ranges and variety of business activities found in the UK and internationally, including aspects of Business such as finance, business communication, administration and customer service.

We have fantastic, state of the art resources! You will be taught in well-equipped classrooms, with interactive whiteboards and the latest technology, including class ipads and our virtual learning environment. We also have a very well equipped library and learning resource centre with plenty of computers for independent study and amazing library facilities. Good English and Maths skills are essential for success in studying and for future employment prospects and so Croydon College ensures that these skills are developed in all learning opportunities.

A key distinguishing feature of Croydon College is our links with employers and the ways in which we bring this into your learning. There is a rich variety of work and employer engagement opportunities provided for you through live briefs, trips, competitions and placements. You will have the opportunity to participate in employer-led seminars (recently has involved companies including Google). Blogs and forums are used to enable students to share ideas and assess each other. student work is exhibited on Moodle (our virtual learning environment) where competitions are run and prizes awarded for winning websites and animations. All the staff who teach you engage in commercial upskilling every year with external companies which keeps their skills up to date and ensures their teaching is current.

This course provides thorough preparation for the next stage of your career to enable you to progress with confidence to either further study or employment with training. Successful completion will enable you to progress onto the next level of a selection of programmes like IT, Travel, Media and Business and subsequently move on into University.

Alternatively, you may prefer to use your qualification to go straight into employment and work in the retail and admin sector or move into apprenticeships. The skills you will have developed will open up a wide range of opportunities at a junior level. Students have, in the past, gone into areas of work such as business administration and retail.

Three GCSEs at grades 3/D as a minimum OR a related Level 1 vocational qualification;

AND;

Including a GCSE at grade 3/D (or equivalent) as a minimum in English OR English and Mathematics assessed at Entry 3 or above by College assessment.
