Course Overview

This course will expand your knowledge and skills in order to work in the electrical installation industry. You will learn the intermediate skills of electrotechnical technology through the combination of theory lessons and practical work in our modern, well-equipped workshops. The course will also develop your confidence to conduct repairs and carry out fault finding on electrical circuitry.

Throughout this course you will study a range of subjects, including testing dead circuits, safe isolation procedures, comprehensive metal working skills, and conduit and trunking.

Good English and Maths skills are essential for success in studying and for future employment prospects and so Croydon College ensures that these skills are developed in all learning opportunities.

This programme is delivered by our fully qualified and professional staff. You will gain experience of exactly what it would be like to work in the electrotechnical industry in our workshops, which are well stocked with components, tools, and testing equipment.

Career Opportunities & Further Study

This course can lead to progression to a Level 3 electrical programme.

Alternatively, you could enter employment within the industry or progress to our advanced electrician apprenticeship programme.



Assessment
You will be assessed over six units, consisting of nine practical observations, four online tests, a written exam, and a written assignment.

Entry Requirements

Three GCSEs at grades 3/D as a minimum OR a related Level 1 vocational qualification;

AND;

Including a GCSE at grade 4/C (or equivalent) as a minimum in English and Mathematics OR English and Mathematics assessed at Level 2 or above by College assessment.

Mature applicants may be considered on relevant experience without having the required entry requirements. However, an interview will always be required.

A satisfactory reference may also be requested.
