Course Overview

This qualification aims to provide learners with a greater understanding of equality and diversity to improve their social awareness. It is an effective and insightful way to strengthen your knowledge on best practice in the workplace.

This course consists of the following topics:

Personal and social identities

Beliefs

Values

Stereotyping and labelling

Prejudice and discrimination

Upon completion of this equality and diversity training course, learners could go on to study one of our other courses, such as the Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Team Leading.



Course Highlights

Unit 1: Equality and diversity in society

In this unit your learners will learn what is meant by the terms ‘equality’ and ‘diversity’. You will develop an understanding of what the effects of stereotyping, labelling, prejudice and discrimination are and start to understand the different characteristics that make people unique.

Unit 2: Equality and diversity in the community

This unit will cover the extent and value of diversity within a chosen community. You will develop an understanding of the potential inequalities which can occur within a community and the support services and groups which exist to ensure that equality and diversity is maintained.

Unit 3: Equality and diversity in the workplace

In this unit learners will develop an understanding of the meaning of equality and diversity in the workplace. This will include how equality and diversity is monitored in the workplace and how the rights of individuals are protected.

Entry Requirements

There are no specific entry requirements for this course; however, learners should have a minimum of level one in literacy or equivalent.

Our Level 1 and 2 distance learning courses are free if eligible for government funding if you meet the following criteria:

Must be aged 19 and over.

If aged 19-23, you must hold a full Level 2 qualification or above (five GCSEs/O Levels grade A-C/9-4, two or three AS Levels, one A Level, NVQ Level 2, First Certificate or Principle of Learning Level 2).

If aged 24+ no qualifications are required.
