We offer the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training at a very competitive price. Tuition fees for this course is £750.

How to pay for your course?
You can apply for tuition fee loans and maintenance loans to help with accommodation and everyday living while studying with us. You would need to apply via Student Finance England. The loan schemes mean you only start to pay back your loan once you have completed your higher education course and are in employment earning more than £25,000 per year.

Additional support for learners with disabilities:
Students with declared learning difficulties, disabilities and/or ongoing health conditions can also apply for Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA). DSA is support that covers the study-related costs you have because of a mental health problem, long term illness or any other disability, for example, dyslexia. Course Overview

Want to hone your skills as a teacher? This reflective practice course will enable you to evaluate your current teaching practices in order to develop your teaching skills further. This course is a nationally accredited Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training.

Learners on this course are required to log 30 hours of current teaching practice, including 3 hours of observation. You will build up a portfolio of evidence as part of the course including a teaching log, lesson observations and self evaluations.

The qualification is designed for individuals teaching in both the private training industry and educational institutes.

The course is designed for busy individuals with a blended delivery model. Students can expect some on campus teaching supplemented by online sessions.

Course Highlights

This Level 4 course is designed for people that are currently in a teaching role or employed by an educational institute. The aim of the course is to get learners to reflect on their current teaching practice and compile evidence to demonstrate their competence as a teacher. This course starts in March/September, please enquire to secure your place.

This course is delivered over one year with a blended learning approach, meaning you will have some sessions on campus and others online. Typically, you can expect to be timetabled for 2.5 to 3 hours per week. This course is aimed at those who work or want to work as teachers or trainers in the post-16 education sector, for example, teaching adult learners.

There are five mandatory units to complete:

Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships

Planning to meet learners’ needs

Delivering education and training

Assessing learners

Using resources for education and training

Career Opportunities & Further Study
Upon successful completion of the course, you will be able to progress to our Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training, which will lead you to gain full teacher status.


This course is assessed through a variety of assessment methods that may include:

Written coursework

A portfolio of evidence

Lesson observations


In addition, you will need to log 30 hours of current teaching and complete three observations where you will be observed by an assessor.

Entry Requirements

To successfully apply for the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training, you need to demonstrate proficiency in spoken and written English. Ideally, you will hold a Level 1 qualification in English and Maths and be working towards a Level 2 qualification (e.g. GCSE) in both subjects.

Applicants need to have access to 30 hours of teaching.

Additionally, all applicants will be invited to a curriculum interview before offers of a place can be made.
