Mode of Study: full time on site Level: 3 Duration: 2 years This qualification will involve a 315-hour industry placement within the science sector.

Course Overview
This T Level programme has been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses, so everything you will learn meets the needs of industry and prepares you for work. At the end of this technical qualification The qualification is structured into 2 component parts: - Core component – you will acquire knowledge of underpinning concepts, theories and principles as well as core skills healthcare sciences. - Occupational specialism: Assisting with healthcare Sciences. Subjects you will cover include: - Working within the healthcare science sector - Health, safety regulations in healthcare science - Good scientific and clinical practice - Infection prevention and control within health specific settings - Managing information and data - Supporting patient care by supporting physiological, physical and clinical engineering services. - Supporting patient care by supporting the collection of a range of specimens for analysis - Specimen analysis - Teamwork - Reflective practice

Course Highlights
Students will develop an understanding of a broad range of issues relevant to the sector, including: -Working within the Health and Science Sectors – an understanding of how to collect data in laboratory or clinical settings, complying with relevant regulations and requirements. -Planning implementing and suggesting improvements to scientific tasks relevant to a laboratory setting. -Identifying and resolving issues with scientific equipment or data errors. -Managing information and data within the health and science sector. -Application of safety, health and environmental practices in the workplace. The College runs a number of educational experiences each year to enable students to contextualise their learning. These experiences include trips, work experience and presentations by visiting speakers. Students undertaking this course will be expected to complete a work placement within an engineering based company.

Career Opportunities & Further Study
To pursue a high-quality technical route into skilled employment such as optical assistant or healthcare science assistant, further study such as higher level apprenticeships or university.

Assessment
T levels will be delivered in specially designed classrooms that mirror a working environment in their industry (for approximately 80% of their time). The remaining 20% of their time will be spend on an industry placement with an employer. An externally-set exam at the end of each academic year to test your understanding of the subject A skill-assessment to demonstrate your competency skills. Whilst on work placement, you will be set a project by your employer that you must successfully complete to demonstrate your overall breadth of learning

Entry Requirements
5 GCSE grades 9 – 4 including English and Maths.
