Course Overview
GCSE study in the sciences provides the foundations for understanding the material world. Scientific understanding is changing our lives and is vital to the worlds future prosperity, and all students should be taught essential aspects of the knowledge, methods, processes and uses of science.

Course Highlights
Develop and learn to apply practical,observational and problem solving skills, both in laboratory, and in the field and in other learning environments.
Develop their ability to evaluate claims based on science through citical analysis of the methodology, evidence and conclusions.
Recognise the importance of peer review of resukts and of communicating results to arange of audiences

Career Opportunities & Further Study
Students who successfully complete the GCSE Award in Science and meet the College’s entry criteria may progress onto BTEC Level 3 /A level courses (e.g. Physics A level).

Assessment
The emphasis of the programme is that students are assessed by engaging in practical groupwork and individual tasks.

Entry Requirements
Five GCSEs grade 9-3 and a satisfactory school reference. Including English Language at grade 3, maths at grade
3 and Core and Additional Science at grade 3 as a minimum. Equivalent qualifications will be considered.
