Useful Information
Understanding the Media and examining its role in society is key to our culture. Students will learn how to analyse a range of media text including genre, narrative and representation in a range of media texts including computer games, television and advertising.

Course Overview
The course covers Television in the Global Age Magazines Changing Representations Media in the Digital Age Video Games Selling Images Advertising and Music Video News in the Online Age Film Industries – from Wales to Hollywood Students will enjoy this course if they: Analyse and discuss Media Products in detail Are keen to produce their own media products Are willing to take part in debate and express their views Are interested in the role of media in modern society Are interested in how technology is changing media industries This course is assessed through both examinations and coursework.

Career Opportunities & Further Study
Students who successfully complete the BTEC Award in Media Studies and meet the College’s entry criteria may progress onto BTEC Level 3 courses (e.g. BTEC Level 3 Media courses).

This course is assessed through both examinations and coursework.
