Course Overview
Sociology is a broad ranging subject that attempts to explain human behaviour, exploring the extent to which individuals’ life chances are shaped by their wealth, gender and ethnicity. Along the way students will find out some extremely interesting facts about modern Britain and the wider world; they will learn that our society is full of hidden injustices and encounter some very radical views on topical social issues.

Course Highlights
This course will provide you with knowledge about understanding and evaluating sociological methodology and a range of ressearch methods, critically analysing information and using evidence in order to make informed arguments as well as using sociollogical theories to understand social issues, debates, social changes and continuties over time.

Career Opportunities & Further Study
This qualification shows that students can apply concepts and interpret practical situations. Successful candidates will be able to progress to A-Level or Level 3 BTEC qualifications, depending on the grades achieved.

Assessment
The emphasis of the programme is that students are assessed by engaging in practical groupwork and individual tasks.

Entry Requirements
Five GCSEs grade 9-3 and a satisfactory schoolreference. Including English Language at grade 3 and maths at grade 3 as a minimum. Equivalent qualifications will be considered.
