Course Overview
Sociology is a broad ranging subject that attempts to explain human behaviour, exploring the extent to which individuals’ life chances are shaped by their wealth, gender and ethnicity. Along the way students will find out some extremely interesting facts about modern Britain and the wider world; they will learn that our society is full of hidden injustices and encounter some very radical views on topical social issues.

Career Opportunities & Further Study
This qualification shows that students can apply concepts and interpret practical situations. The Award is equivalent to one GCSE. Students wishing to progress to a Level 3 BTEC qualification would need to have a minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade 4 or the equivalent BTEC Level 2 qualifications (at Merit or above).

Assessment
The emphasis of the programme is that students are assessed by engaging in practical groupwork and individual tasks.

Entry Requirements
Two 2 and three 3 grades at GCSE including English and Mathematics minimum Grade 2 or equivalent qualifications (a Pass or higher at BTEC Level 2 is accepted as part of the GCSE Grades).
