Course Overview
This course is for those who want to work as plumbers in the building services engineering sector. This course will allow you to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the plumbing sector. You will cover subjects including: Hot and Cold water systems, Common plumbing processes, Central heating systems, Drainage systems and Electrical principles and processes. This qualification does not make candidates fully qualified plumbers.

Course Highlights
Students will have the opportunity to undertake enrichment
activities outside of Croydon College. There are regular trips to exhibitions
such as Eco-Build at the Excel Centre and on-site visits
to construction sites.
We are actively involved with local employers and students
can discuss Apprenticeships and progression opportunities in our Employability
Hub or in the Apprenticeship Office.

Career Opportunities & Further Study
It allows candidates to progress into employment, or to the
following City & Guilds qualifications:
- Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Plumbing and Heating
- Level 3 Diploma in Plumbing Studies
- Some of our learners have progressed from this course on
to a full Level 2 Apprenticeship

Assessment
This course is assessed in two ways:
- There are practical task that have to be assessed in a
’real work’ workshop environment by our fully trained assessors. Learners will
have to complete a portfolio of evidence of all workshop tasks.
- Then there are ten online multiple choice unit tests
which test your knowledge and understanding of the
subject.

Entry Requirements
3 GCSEs grade 9-3 (A*-D) or a related Level 1 plumbing qualification including, English and maths. Equivalence of these qualifications will be considered. Mature applicants may be considered on relevant experience without having the required entry requirements. However, a maths and English assessment may be required.
