The government requires that all students who have not achieved at least a Grade 4 in GCSE Mathematics retake these qualifications during their time at College. A Grade 4 in Mathematics GCSE is an important qualification for almost all careers and courses. The Mathematics GCSE course prepares students for the Foundation level GCSE qualification.

This course covers topics related to Numbers, Data Handling, Algebra and Space, Measure and Shape, and follows the Edexcel Linear Syllabus.

Assessment
This course is compulsory for students who have a GCSE Maths Grade 3 or lower. The final Grade is based on 3 written papers (two calculator and one non-calculator), each lasting 1.5 hours. Students will have the opportunity to sit the examinations in either November or June. The exam board for this GCSE level is Edexcel Linear.
