Course Overview
Studying a T Level offers a range of benefits, including gaining industry-relevant skills and real-world experience through mandatory placements.This T Level programme has been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses, so everything you will learn meets the needs of industry and prepares you for work. Equivalent to three A Levels, T Levels provide a clear pathway to employment or higher education, making students more attractive to employers with practical, hands-on expertise in their chosen field. The qualification enhances employability, offers flexibility across diverse industries and increases the potential for higher wages. Additionally, T Levels provide a solid foundation for university progression, helping students make informed career decisions and secure well-paid roles in sectors like engineering, healthcare and business.

Course Highlights
The qualification is structured into two components: the Core Component, where you will gain knowledge of key concepts, theories and principles, as well as occupational specialism where you will develop knowledge, skills and behaviours necessary to work in the childcare industry. Subjects you will cover include understanding the Education and Early Years sector, child development, safeguarding, special educational needs and disability, working with parents, carers and families as well as work with agencies and services that support children such as social services or local authority. This qualification will involve a 315 hour industry placement within the healthcare sector. This means students will spend 80% of their time in the classroom and 20% on an industry placement (9 weeks minimum).

Career Opportunities & Further Study
On completion you can progress into higher education to study topics including Early Childhood Studies, Primary Education, Psychology and Social Work. Alternatively, you may wish to explore an apprenticeship. This course opens up a wide range of exciting career opportunities in the childcare sector including Early Years Educator, Nursery, Teaching Assistant, Playworker, Special Educational Needs Support Worker and School Administrator.

Assessment
T Levels are assessed through a combination of exams, coursework and industry placements. The core component includes exams that test knowledge of key concepts and principles, while coursework allows students to demonstrate their practical application of skills. The industry placement is a crucial part, where students gain real-world experience and are assessed on their performance in a professional setting. These assessments ensure that students develop both theoretical knowledge and practical experience, preparing them for further study or employment in their chosen field.

Entry Requirements
You will need a minimum of four GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English and maths, or a related Level 2 vocational qualification. DBS check to be done at enrolment.
