Course Overview
This two-year program is equivalent to three A Levels, combining classroom learning with hands-on industry experience. Students will spend 80% of their time in the classroom and 20% on an industry placement, totaling approximately 750 hours (9 weeks minimum). The course focuses on working with children from birth to 5 years old while gaining knowledge about the development of children up to age 7.
Students college three days a week and complete their placement at a school nursery, reception class, or private day nursery for two days weekly. A dedicated placement officer will assist in securing suitable work placements. Upon successful completion, students earn a license to practice, qualifying them for roles in early years settings or to pursue various university courses.

Assessment
The course assessment combines written exams, practical projects, and synoptic evaluations to measure overall competence.
Year 1
Core Assessment: Externally set test (2 papers graded A*-E)

Industry Placement: Completion evidenced through a log of hours, skills, and knowledge application.
Year 2
Synoptic Assessments: overall skill levels with grades of Distinction, Merit, or Pass.

Entry Requirements
Minimum of Four GCSEs at Grade 4 or Above: Must include English or Maths.
Alternative Qualifications: Related Level 2 vocational qualifications at Merit or higher will be considered.
Functional Skills: English and Maths at Level 2 may also be accepted.
Commitment to Learning: Evidence required.
DBS Check: for enrollment.
Interest in Childcare Education: Must demonstrate a passion for the field.
