Useful Information
At A Level, students will study further mathematics, which builds on the concepts learned at GCSE, such as algebra, graphs, and trigonometry, along with two applied units: mechanics and statistics. Studying mathematics gives students techniques for understanding and solving problems and encourages the development of a logical and inquiring mind.

Course Overview
Students will study pure mathematics, statistics, and mechanics. Pure mathematics covers concepts from GCSE, such as algebra, graphs, and trigonometry. Mechanics discusses forces acting on bodies and their resulting motions using modeling. Statistics involves the study of data. Students must be proficient in manipulating algebraic equations and enjoy interpreting graphs. The course is assessed by three 2-hour papers at the end of year 2, all of which are calculator papers. The exam board for this A Level is Edexcel.

Course Highlights
This Pearson Edexcel Level 3 Advanced Subsidiary GCE in Further Mathematics builds on the skills, knowledge, and understanding set out in the entire GCSE subject content for mathematics and the subject content for the Pearson Edexcel Level 3 Advanced Subsidiary and Advanced GCE Mathematics qualifications. Assessments will be designed to reward students for demonstrating the ability to provide responses that draw together different areas of their knowledge, skills, and understanding from across the full course of study for the AS level Further Mathematics qualification and also from across the A level Mathematics qualification. Problem-solving, proof, and mathematical modeling will be assessed in Further Mathematics in the context of the wider knowledge, which students taking AS Further Mathematics will have studied.

- Paper 1 Core Pure Mathematics: Written examination - 1 hour and 40 minutes, 50% of the qualification, 80 marks - Paper 2 Further Mathematics options: Written examination - 1 hour and 40 minutes, 50% of the qualification, 80 marks We follow Option 2E: Further Statistics 1 and Further Mechanics 1

Entry Requirements
Students wishing to include A Levels in their program need to have (or expect to achieve) at least five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English at grade 5 and mathematics at grade 8. Students will need a satisfactory school reference.
