The BTEC Performing Arts Level 2 course is a one-year study programme that provides practical activities, scenarios, and independent studies for students. The course aims to inspire students to explore different ways of applying their acquired skills and bring the content of the units to life. Students will focus on the Acting pathway and upon completion of the course, they will attain a Level 2 Award in Performing Arts.

Course Structure:
Students will study two core units and an optional specialist unit:
1. Unit 1: Individual showcase
2. Unit 2: Preparation, Performance, and Production
3. Unit 3: Acting Skills

Course Highlights
Students will participate in educational trips, performing arts productions, and performances as part of the course. They may also represent the College in showcasing their skills and talents.

Career Opportunities & Further Study
Upon successful completion of the BTEC Award in Performing Arts and meeting the College’s entry criteria, students may progress to BTEC Level 3 courses such as Performing Arts, Music, and/or Media courses.

Assessment
Students will be assessed via the three units. One is externally assessed and two are internally assessed.
Unit 1 is externally assessed. Using scenarios, students will develop their potential and create plans for their future career. They will prepare work related to performance, technical aspects, or design and present a self-promotional response.
In Unit 2, students will take on specific performance or production roles.
In Unit 3, they will master new acting skills in at least two styles and apply them in their performance.
The exam board is Pearson.

Entry Requirements
Two Grade 2s and three Grade 3s at GCSE, including English and Mathematics. Equivalent qualifications (a Pass or higher at BTEC Level 2 is accepted as part of the GCSE Grades) are also accepted.
Additionally, students will need to attend an audition.
