Course Overview
This course will provide you a practical introduction to a variety of skills as well as an introduction to the background knowledge required to succeed. All of these skills are in demand in the industry so you can decide which construction route suits you best. You will be introduced to: Brickwork, Plastering, Woodwork, Painting, Decorating and Tiling. This will give you the confidence and versatility that employers are looking for.

Course Highlights
The Construction Multi Skills Level 1 offers a comprehensive introduction to various construction trades. Core units typically include Health, Safety and Welfare in Construction Technical Information, Quantities, and Communication and Construction Technology. Practical skills are developed through units such as plastering walls, applying paint to substrates, building block and brick walls, constructing woodworking joints, fitting architrave and tiling walls.

Career Opportunities & Further Study
On completion you can progress into higher education to study topics including Site Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or even Construction Design and Architecture at higher levels, including HNCs, HNDs or university degrees. Alternatively, you may wish to explore an apprenticeship. This course opens up a wide range of exciting career opportunities including Trainee Bricklayer, Junior Carpenter, Site Labourer, Painter and Decorator, Plasterer, Tiler and Plumbing Assistant.

Assessment
The Construction Multi Skills Level 1 Diploma is assessed through a combination of practical assessments, written assignments, and online or paper-based exams.Throughout the course, your tutors will observe and evaluate your hands-on skills in the workshop as you complete set tasks in areas such as bricklaying, carpentry, painting, plastering and tiling.In addition to the practical work, you'll complete written coursework and knowledge-based assessments that test your understanding of essential topics like health and safety, construction technology and communication in the workplace.

Entry Requirements
GCSE grade 9-2 (A*-E) in English and maths. Equivalence of these qualifications will be considered. Evidence of a commitment to learn and the ability to study at this level shown at interview.
