Course Overview
This is an exciting course that gives students the opportunity to gain knowledge and understanding of the Health and Social Care sector. Topics include Human Lifespan Development, Working in Health and Social Care, Anatomy and Physiology, Enquires into Research and promoting Public Health. There will be 100 hours of compulsory work experience which will be incorporated into the course.

The College organizes educational experiences such as trips, visiting speakers, and work experience to help students contextualize their learning. Health and Social Care students actively participate in local community events and work experience placements in various healthcare settings.

Career Opportunities & Further Study
This course can prepare you for higher education in Health and Social Care or more general higher education courses as it offers skills that are useful in various subjects. With further training, you could pursue careers related to Health and Social Care such as Nurse, Midwife, Dietician, Teacher or areas of Social Work. The course will also help you develop skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across different industries are looking for, especially in the social sectors. However, it is important to note that some of these courses (such as Nursing and Midwifery) require students to take other Science subjects alongside this course.

Assessment
This course is assessed through coursework and an exam over the two years. Students will complete several units of coursework, and the points achieved on each unit will contribute to the overall grade.The awarding body for this course is Pearson BTEC.

Entry Requirements
Four GCSEs grade 9-4 and a satisfactory school reference.Including English Language at grade 4 and maths at grade 4 as a minimum. The College will cover the cost of a DBS (Disclosure Barring Service) check, which you will need to complete after enrolling onto the course.
