Course Overview
This course is for students who perform as musicians and are looking to further their musical studies and experiences in a variety of ways. It offers students the opportunity to gain a wide range of musical skills including: Performance,
Music Theory, Song Writing Techniques, Music Production (Recording and Sequencing), Music Business and Events Management. You will have the opportunity to develop general skills, as well as sharing their musical interests with
other specialist musicians.
Students of any musical style can perform, and the course includes training in listening and critical review. While some musical literacy skills are helpful, they are not essential. The course also includes specialist units such as the Sound and Music Industry, providing students with a good grounding in the inner workings of the music business, including its structure, how to get freelance work, and record deals.

Course Highlights
The Department organises trips to Performance Showcases, SoundExpo Show, and presentations by guest speakers and performers from the industry.Students have the opportunity to take part in two performances in music venues outside of College as well as the in-house annual concert.

Career Opportunities & Further Study
The course is suitable for any instrumentalist or singer wishing to develop their performing skills to a high level, perhaps with a view to a career in the music industry. The qualification has been developed in consultation with Higher Education establishments offering degree, diploma, and professional training programs.

Assessment
The course is assessed by 100% coursework, including performance logbooks, research, journals, audio and video evidence, presentations, accounts, and evaluations. The exam board is Pearson BTEC.

Entry Requirements
Four GCSEs grade 9-4 and a satisfactory school reference.Including English Language at grade 4 and maths at grade 4
as a minimum. You will be required to attend an audition.
