Useful Information
The BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Art and Design is equivalent to two A Levels and provides students with comprehensive knowledge across various creative fields, including Fine Art, Design, and Textiles. The flexible course structure allows learners to tailor their studies to align with their interests, abilities, and career aspirations. Students can enhance their learning by adding an A Level in an art-based subject, creating a well-rounded full-time art package. A contribution of £20 is required for materials at the start of each year, and students are expected to have their own drawing and painting materials for home use.

Course Overview
The BTEC Level 3 Diploma consists of six mandatory units, three which are externally assessed, along with two optional units from a selection of professional specializations such as Fine Art, Graphic Design, Textiles, and Photography. Throughout the course, students will actively contribute to course blogs, YouTube channels, and Flickr pages, while also building their own e-portfolios. Upper Sixth students will have the opportunity to hang and host a public exhibition at the end of their studies. The essential components of the course equip students with a solid understanding of the fundamentals of and Design, including: Techniques and materials Concepts and influences Visual recording and communication This foundation allows students to specialize in an area of their choice as they progress.

Assessment
Over the course of two years, students will complete four externally assessed units, with the remaining units assessed through coursework. The points earned from each unit will be combined to determine an overall grade. The exam board for this course is Pearson BTEC.

Entry Requirements
To enroll in the BTEC Level 3 Diploma, students must have (or expect to achieve) at least four GCSE passes at grade 4 or above, including: English and Mathematics at grade 3 or better (along with a satisfactory school reference). Additionally, students should meet the following minimum GCSE requirement: GCSE Grade 4 in Art or relevant Design Technology, or Merit in BTEC Level 2 Art & Design plus a suitable portfolio.
