Course Overview
Psychology is the study of human behaviour and human experience. Psychologists apply their theories and explanations to understand different areas of everyday life including events, treat mental health issues and improve education, employment and relationships.
You will learn about the social, biological, cognitive and learning approaches in psychology. You will learn key studies and theories within psychology and apply knowledge to specific areas of society including aggression, consumer/employee behaviour and gender identity. You will also study research methods and complete a piece of coursework/research which will develop skills of investigation, problem-solving, analysis and creative development.

Course Highlights
Specific trips and visits are organized to allow students to contextualize their learning. Students will have the opportunity to visit the Bethlem Royal Hospital and Bethlem Museum of the Mind at the end of the first year. While there is no mandatory work experience placement, students are encouraged to seek meaningful volunteer experiences to aid their career progression.

Career Opportunities & Further Study
Completing this qualification provides students with transferable knowledge and skills that prepare them for university degrees. When combined with other A Levels and BTEC Level 3 qualifications, such as Sport and Exercise Science, Health and Social Care, or Applied Science, students can progress to degrees in psychology, teaching and education, counseling, health, sport and psychology and criminology.

Assessment
The course assessment consists of exams (50%) and coursework (50%). The exam board for this course is Pearson EDEXCEL.

Entry Requirements
Four GCSEs grade 9-4 and a satisfactory school reference.Including English Language at grade 4, Science at grade 5
and maths at grade 4 as a minimum.. If GCSE Psychology has been taken, a GCSE grade 4 in Science will be acceptable.
