Useful Information
This course equips students with the knowledge, understanding, and skills necessary for further study or training in a psychology-related career. It consists of three mandatory units covering applications of psychological approaches, health psychology, and research methods. Additionally, there is an optional unit in the second year focusing on applied occupational areas such as forensic psychology, child development, psychopathology, and sports psychology.

Course Overview
Students will explore the social, biological, cognitive, and learning approaches in psychology. They will study key theories and research within psychology and apply their knowledge to specific areas of society, including aggression, consumer/employee behavior, and gender identity. The course also covers research methods and includes a piece of coursework/research to develop skills in investigation, problem-solving, analysis, and creative development.

Course Highlights
Specific trips and visits are organized to allow students to contextualize their learning. Students will have the opportunity to visit the Bethlem Royal Hospital and Bethlem Museum of the Mind at the end of the first year. While there is no mandatory work experience placement, students are encouraged to seek meaningful volunteer experiences to aid their career progression.

Career Opportunities & Further Study
Completing this qualification provides students with transferable knowledge and skills that prepare them for university degrees. When combined with other A Levels and BTEC Level 3 qualifications, such as Sport and Exercise Science, Health and Social Care, or Applied Science, students can progress to degrees in psychology, teaching and education, counseling, health, sport and psychology, and criminology.

Assessment
The course assessment consists of exams (50%) and coursework (50%). The exam board for this course is Pearson EDEXCEL.

Entry Requirements
Students interested in BTEC Level 3 courses need to have (or expect to achieve) at least four GCSE passes at Grade 4 or above, including English and Mathematics, and a satisfactory school reference to be accepted. Additionally, students must attain the following GCSE grades: Grade 5 in Science and Grade 5 in Mathematics. Alternatively, GCSE Psychology at grade 3 and double science at grade 4 can be accepted.
