Course Highlights
This course is designed to equip you with essential study skills, including reading and comprehension of scientific writing, examination skills, speaking and listening and using information technology. The course is divided into Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths and Psychology. In Biology you will explore topics such as Anatomy and Physiology, Blood, Biological Molecules and Enzymes, Cells, Disease and Immunity, Genes and Human Tissue. In Chemisty you will explore topics such as Chemical Bonding, Organic Chemistry, the Periodic Table and Transition Metals. In Physics you will explore topics such as Atomic Physics, Electricity, Energy and Medical Imagiing. In Maths you will explore topics such as Trigonometry, Numerical Methods and Calculus. In Psychology you will explore topics such as Attachment Theory, Biological Psychology and Health Psychology. Assessment
The core subjects for the Access to Higher Education Diploma in Science include:
Human Biology
, Maths (Algebra) and
Chemistry
. Class tutors employ variety of assessment methods, such as: Formal Reports, Presentations, Written Assessments, Exams and Case Studies.
The Diploma comprises units totaling 60 Level 3 credits, which include:
21 credits in Biology, 21 credits in Chemistry, 3 credits in Maths and 15 credits in Study Skills.

Entry Requirements
English at GCSEs grade 9-4 (A*-C) and maths at GCSEs grade 9-3 (A*-D). Equivalence of these qualifications will be considered. Evidence of a commitment to learn and the ability to study at this level shown at interview. You may be required to study GCSE maths at college if not gained already.
