The Access to Higher Education (HE) Diploma is a recognized national qualification that enables individuals without traditional Level 3 qualifications to apply for degree courses and gain entry to university. Our Access to Social Work course is specifically designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to progress to a degree or diploma in higher education. This program provides adults lacking the requisite Level 3 qualifications, such as As, with the opportunity to earn an Access to HE Diploma, which is equivalent in standard to these qualifications.

Individuals seeking a career change due to unemployment or limited opportunities in their previous field, who have a demonstrated interest in a social work-related profession.

The Access to University program is intensive and requires a full commitment to hard work, including 100% attendance throughout the course. Proficiency in English and Maths is crucial for academic success and future employment. Therefore, Croydon College is dedicated to developing these skills in all learning opportunities. Throughout the course, students will receive academic and tutorial support, including assistance with university applications via the UCAS process.

Entry Requirements
Age Requirement: Applicants must be 19 years or older.
Academic qualifications: English at GCSEs grade 9-4 (A*-C) and maths at GCSEs grade 9-3 (A*-D). You may be required to study GCSE maths at college if not gained already.
Application Process:Selection is based on an interview, initial screening, and literacy and numeracy tests.
Important Note: Universities are increasingly requiring GCSEs or Functional Skills (Level 2) as part of their entry criteria. It is the student's responsibility to ensure that their current and future qualifications meet the entry requirements of any university they wish to attend.
Financial Information
Financial Eligibility:
Applicants must provide evidence that they meet the criteria for general discretionary Learner Support Funds or the 19+ Advanced Learning Loan bursary fund. To check eligibility for an Advanced Learner, please contact Student Finance England.
Loan Repayment:
Student Finance England will write off any outstanding balances on the Advanced Learner Loan for an Access to HE course once you complete a higher education course. This means you will not be required to repay the loan.
