Course Overview
BTEC IT is known for its hands-on, practical approach to learning. You will be actively working with the technology you are studying. IT is at the heart of almost every industry, from healthcare to entertainment to finance. The skills you learn in BTEC IT are immediately applicable to the real world. You will be able to see how technology is used to solve business problems, improve services and make people's lives easier.

Course Highlights
You will be equipped with skills such as communication, planning and team-work.Gain practical experience through work related activities, collaborative projects, real life briefs and external trips and speakers. Within Year 1, you will study subjects such as Information Technology Systems, Creating Systems to Manage Information, Social Media, Website Development and Data Modelling. Within Year 2, you will study subjects such as Cyber Security, IT Service Delivery, IT Project Management and Technical support.

Career Opportunities & Further Study
On completion, you can progress onto a higher education course for example in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Web Development and Games Design. You can pursue job roles such as Help Desk Support, customer service roles in IT or IT Technician.

Assessment
Students will be assessed through a variety of methods including practical tasks, presentations, journals and role play. There is 13 units and the qualification is equivalent to 3 A levels.

Entry Requirements
4 GCSEs grade 9-4 (A*-C) or a related Level 2 vocational qualification (at merit or higher), including English and maths. Equivalence of these qualifications will be considered.
