Course Overview
This exciting course offers an advanced exploration of Art and Design, equipping learners with specialist, transferable, and industry-specific skills. Designed to foster creativity and enable higher levels of achievement, this program prepares students for progression into higher education or creative apprenticeships. Students will engage in guided workshops that encompass a variety of studio-based practices, including Painting, 3D Sculpture, Printmaking, Photography, Digital, 3D Art Making, and Fashion and Textiles. The course is evidence-based, allowing learners to build creative portfolios that are submitted at two key assessment points. Assessment
Assessment methods for both internal and external units are designed to align with the course objectives, allowing learners to demonstrate the skills they have developed in practical scenarios. Gr: All units are graded to encourage skill development and performance, utilizing a grading scale of Distinction, Merit, Pass, and Unclassified. This grading system was introduced based on feedback from users and practitioners of the qualification.

Entry Requirements
To enroll in this course, candidates must meet the following criteria: Educational Qualifications: Four GCSEs at grades 9-4/A*-C, or a related Level 2 vocational course at Merit or higher (if a pass grade is achieved, GCSE grades and/or Functional results may also be considered). Core Subjects: At least one GCSE at grade 9-4/A*-C (or equivalent) in English or Mathematics, or assessment results in English and Mathematics at Level 1 or above as determined by the College. Art Portfolio: A portfolio containing recent examples of artwork, sketchbooks, photography, or any other creative work. This may include both coursework and personal projects. References: A satisfactory reference may also be requested. This course provides a robust foundation art and design, equipping students with the essential skills, knowledge, and experience to thrive in their creative careers.
