Course Overview
This one-year course is designed for individuals interested in pursuing a career in sports. The course includes the study of 3 core units and 4 additional units: 1. Participating in Sport 2. Anatomy and Physiology for Exercise 3. Introduction to Healthy Exercise and Nutrition 4. Sports Coaching 5. Psychology for Sports Performance 6. Work Experience in Sport 7. Factors Affecting Participation in Sport and Physical Activity

Course Highlights
The College offers various educational experiences such as visiting speakers, an assault course, a stadium tour, team-building paintball experiences, and visits to university sports science labs. Full-time students at Coulsdon Sixth Form College can apply to join the College Football Academy, which provides elite coaching, individual fitness program guidance, access to the College Fitness Suite, nutrition advice, and the opportunity to play in national competitions, as well as coaching and officiating qualifications. Additionally, there are opportunities for students to develop their sporting skills through external coaches and a strength and conditioning program.

Career Opportunities & Further Study
Completion of this qualification indicates a strong understanding of sports concepts and practical applications, providing a solid foundation for further study at Coulsdon Sixth Form College in a BTEC Level 3 Programme in Sport or other subjects.

Assessment
Students will be assessed entirely through coursework, developing analytical skills and self-analysis crucial for further study in Sport at BTEC Level 3. The exam board for this course is NCFE

Entry Requirements
GCSE grades at 3 for English and 3 for Mathematics as a minimum. Grade 3/3 in combined sience and 3 in Biology (if taken) as a minimum. Grade 3 in sports (if taken) as a minimum.
