Course Overview
This course will introduce you to the role of public services – including the police, prisons, ambulance, fire and rescue services, army, navy, marines and air force. The Level 1 course will prepare you with knowledge and study skills that will then enable you to study Level 2 in a subject area of your choice. The course combines some practical activities as well as theory to give you an overview of a wide range of subjects.

During this course you will cover employment opportunities in uniformed services, well-being and physical fitness, team work, self-discipline and health and safety. We’re bringing the real world to you with a wide range of work experience and hands-on engagements, including thrilling trips and exclusive guest speakers. Imagine meeting professionals from the Police, Army, and Royal Navy – all sharing their expertise and inspiring stories. Plus, you’ll gain invaluable work experience by working alongside the Metropolitan Police on activities like 'Stop and Search' and 'Knife Arch' operations. Career Opportunities & Further Study
On completion, you can progress onto Level 2 Public Services or Level 2 Sport . Alternatively, you may wish to start an apprenticeship. You can pursue roles such as security officer, civil service assistant, firefighter trainee, police support worker, army or royal navy trainee, emergency services call handler or outdoor activity leader.

Assessment
There will no examinations instead you are internally assessed. A variety of assessment meothds are used including written assignments, presentations, practical activities, demonstrations and reports.

Entry Requirements
GCSE grade 9-2 (A*-E) in English and maths. Equivalence of these qualifications will be considered. Evidence of a commitment to learn and the ability to study at this level shown at interview.
