This course will provide an introduction to a wide variety of hair and beauty skills which will allow you to make an informed decision about which area you would like to specialise in. This programme will consist of theory and practical sessions, developing your skills in make-up, shampooing and treatments, manicures, pedicures and blow-drying. You will also enhance your customer service skills by working with the public in our reception area whilst being supervised by our fabulous receptionist.

You will gain qualities and skills that will give you the best possible opportunity to progress and to secure a career in the hair and beauty industry.

Please note that due to the highly professional nature of the hair and beauty industry, you will be required to wear a uniform whilst you are in the salon, details of which will be given to you at enrolment.

Good English and Maths skills are essential for success in studying and for future employment prospects and so Croydon College ensures that these skills are developed in all learning opportunities.

You will have the chance to compete in internal and external competitions which will give you a great insight into how to develop your skills further on a competitive stage; past students have achieved a high standing at the national World Skills final.

You will also have the opportunity to gain valuable work experience throughout your course and there are many opportunities of working with other students and professional links through photo shoots and fashion catwalks within our Croydon School of Art and local businesses.

A key distinguishing feature of the College is our links with employers and the ways in which we incorporate this into your learning. Employers attend our popular employability events and you can discuss apprenticeships and progression opportunities in our employability hub or in the apprenticeship office.

Completion of this course will enable you to progress on to one of our Level 2 courses, such as our Beauty Therapy Diploma or our Hairdressing Diploma.

Alternatively, you can progress directly into employment in the hair and beauty industry via one of our many apprenticeship programmes.
