Course Overview
This course will provide an introduction to a wide variety of hair and beauty skills. This programme consists of theory and practical sessions, developing your skills in make-up, shampooing and treatments, manicures, pedicures and blow-drying. You will also enhance your customer service skills by working with the public in our reception area whilst being supervised by our receptionist.

Course Highlights

You will have the chance to compete in internal and external competitions which will give you a great insight into how to develop your skills further on a competitive stage; past students have achieved a high standing at the national World Skills final.

You will also have the opportunity to gain valuable work experience throughout your course and there are many opportunities of working with other students and professional links through photo shoots and fashion catwalks within our Croydon School of Art and local businesses.

A key distinguishing feature of the College is our links with employers and the ways in which we incorporate this into your learning. Employers attend our popular employability events and you can discuss apprenticeships and progression opportunities in our employability hub or in the apprenticeship office.



Career Opportunities & Further Study
On completion, you can progress onto Level 3 Beauty Therapy or Level 2 Hairdressing, or enter employment with an apprenticeship.

Assessment
Practical assessments will take place during your salon sessions and all of these are carried out on real clients and will be assessed by one of our highly trained professional members of staff.  Creative assignments and projects will be used to showcase your underpinning knowledge of each technical skill learnt, and these will be used as evidence for your portfolio.

Entry Requirements
GCSE grade 9-2 (A*-E) in English and maths Equivalence of these qualifications will beconsidered. Evidence of a commitment to learn and the ability to study at this level shown at interview.
