Course Overview
The course in barbering is designed for students who work in or wish to pursue a career in barbering. It provides the necessary skills and knowledge that prove occupational competence as a junior barber.You will learn a range of introductory skills, aswell as core knowledge, relevant to barbering and customer service alongside generic employability skills.

Course Highlights
The course covers a wide range of practical techniques, including cutting, styling and grooming men’s hair, as well as beard and moustache shaping and trimming. Exciting aspects of the course include the opportunity to work with diverse hair types and styles, gaining insights into the latest trends in men’s grooming. Different units that are covered throughout the course include Client consultation for barbering services and how to maintian health and safety in a salon. There is also units that will focus on the practical skills such as cutting mens hair and facial hair.

Career Opportunities & Further Study
The Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Barbering is designed to enable progression to higher-level qualifications, specifically the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Barbering. Upon completion, learners can pursue careers as junior barbers, gaining practical experience and building their client base within the barbering industry.

Assessment
The assessment for the Barbering Level 2 Diploma combines both practical assessments and theory-based exams. Students are evaluated on their ability to perform a variety of barbering techniques, such as cutting, styling, and shaving, during practical assessments that take place in a salon setting. In addition to practical assessments, students complete written exams or coursework.

Entry Requirements
3 GCSEs grade 9-3 (A*-D) or a related Level 1 vocational qualification including, English and maths. Equivalence of these qualifications will be considered. Mature applicants may be considered on relevant experience without having the required entry requirements. However, an interview and a maths and English assessment will always be required.
