Course Overview
This course offers an exciting opportunity for learners to enhance their creative skills and develop a digital portfolio, paving the way for progression to Level 3 courses. Additionally, it allows students to improve their GCSE grades in Maths and/or English if needed.

A key feature of the course is the opportunity to exhibit student work in the college's own gallery space. Workshops with Local Organizations: Participation in workshops with TURF Arts, where students successfully entered and won a creative competition.
Rotational Learning: A 'rotation method' of lessons allows access to specialist workshops across various disciplines.
Specialized Areas of Focus:
Three-Dimensional Design: Students prototype and create functional or artistic products using resistant materials. They will work with woodworking and ceramics to produce physical artwork and sculptures, documenting their processes through digital photo shoots in the college's photography studio.
Fashion Design: Learners will engage in the design process, exploring the influence of culture and trends on clothing construction and accessories. Students will learn about the impacts of fast and sustainable practices, culminating in a client design competition in collaboration with Stanley Arts.
Photography: This module emphasizes capturing moments and creative expression. Students will utilize traditional developing techniques in the photographic workshop, experimenting with portrait, landscape, long exposure, and macro photography. Techniques such as photograms and cyanotypes will be incorporated to enhance their portfolios.
Graphic Design: Students will develop skills in visual communication, focusing on typeface design, illustration, and printmaking in specialized studios. External trips to studios and exhibitions will support research and insights into the vast creative industries.

Assessment
Assessment is structured around five key areas: Investigation, Communication, Practical Skills, Development, and Approach.
Grading: Assessments are graded on a scale of Distinction, Merit, Pass, and Unclassified. To earn a qualification, learners must achieve at least a Pass in all assessment criteria for each unit.

Entry Requirements
To enroll in this course, candidates must meet following criteria:
Educational Qualifications: Four or more GCSEs at grade 4/C or above, including at least one in English or Maths, assessed at Entry 3 or above by college standards.
Art Portfolio: A portfolio demonstrating recent artwork, sketchbooks, photography, or other creative works. This may include both coursework and personal projects.
