Course Overview
This course will prepare you to work with children from birth to seven years and gain knowledge of children aged five to seven years. On completion, you will be able to enter the workforce as an early years educator. You will need to be creative, enthusiastic and enjoy working with children.
Students will learn the importance of being emotionally balanced and resilient in face of challenges in the childcare sector. Successful candidates will exhibit creativity, enthusiasm, and a genuine enjoyment of working with children.

Assessment
Assessment methods this course include:
Work Experience: Practical experience in an early years setting for a minimum of two days per week.
Unit Assignments: Completion of eight unit assignments and an effective practice study task.
Extended Assessment Task: An in-depth evaluation of learning and practical application.
Direct Observation: Assessment of practical skills and knowledge in a real-world environment, ensuring students can demonstrate competency in childcare settings.

Entry Requirements
4 GCSEs grade 9-4 (A*-C) or a related Level 2 vocational qualification (at merit or higher), including English and maths. Equivalence of these qualifications will be considered. In addition, you will need to complete a DBS (Disclosure Barring Service) check once enrolled, which the College will pay for if you are aged between 16–18 when you start.
