Timetable: Every Wednesday, beginning 17th Janary 2024 until 28th February 2024, between 6pm to 8.30pm.

Duration: 6 weeks

Cost: £150

This course starts the week commencing Monday 15th January 2024.



Course Overview

Who the course is for:

This course is suitable for those students who have some previous experience in Ceramics and for those students who have previously completed either 1, or both Beginners Ceramics Hand building courses at Croydon College. 

What you will learn:

The course will enable you to improve your hand building techniques and develop your practice in the different stages of the making process.
 An opportunity to design and make your own ceramic project using a combination of hand building techniques including press moulding, coiling, pinching and slab building. 
 
Assemble a piece of work combining all these techniques or concentrate on your favoured technique. The work can be utilitarian, decorative or sculptural in nature.
 
Explore texture, colour and glaze application on, and into the clay surface
using clay, slips, glaze, oxides and commercial colours.
 
Concentrate on one outcome or a small grouping of work
Learn how to plan and prepare effectively for different stages of production.
 



Assessment
The course is Tutor led with demonstrations and one to one support.

Aprons will be provided.
