Hospitality is an exciting and growing industry and offers a wide range of employment opportunities. Students learn about the Hospitality Industry and its different sectors and what makes Hospitality businesses successful. Core and optional units covered include:
Course Specific Trips & Visits & Experiences
The College runs a number of educational experiences each year to enable students to contextualise their learning. These experiences include trips, visiting speakers, residentials and work experience. Visits have been made to the De Vere Selsdon Estate to explore the workings of The Front Office, Nutfield Priory and Hallmark Hotel. Visits this year will include Majestic Wines, The Hilton Hotel Croydon, No.1 Lounge (who also come in annually to recruit staff), Virgin Atlantic, British Airways and The Food and Drink Expo.
Students could take this course to prepare for higher education in Hospitality or more general higher education courses, as the course offers skills that are useful in lots of subjects.
With further training, students could go into a job directly related to Tourism, Hotel Work and all aspects of the Hospitality Industry. The course will also help students develop the skills, understanding and knowledge for entering today’s workforce across many industries.
The course is assessed purely through coursework, presentations and role plays. Students will complete between 6 and 7 units of coursework in each year of the course to achieve the required number of credits. The points achieved on each unit will be added together to form an overall grade.
The exam board for this course is Pearson BTEC.
