This course is designed to give learners a technical understanding of film and television visual effects. Learners produce film and television visual effects through practical projects and gain knowledge and skills in areas such as storyboarding, 2D and 3D animation, compositing and rendering techniques.
Topics include:
Digital Media Skills
Visual Effects
2D Animation
Film Production
3D Digital Animation
The course provides a broader sector experience and encourages learners to take on individual research, enabling them to be further prepared for higher-level learning.
Teaching and guidance from practising Animators and Motion Graphics Designers.
We have well-resourced studios and workshops for all disciplines.
The course includes work experience, enrichment activities and exhibitions and collaborative projects.
Four GCSEs at grades 9-4/A*-C OR A related Level 2 vocational course at Merit or higher (if a pass grade is achieved GCSE grades and/or functional skills results may also be considered);
AND;
Including a GCSE at grade 9-4/A*-C (or equivalent) in English or Mathematics OR English and Mathematics assessed at Level 1 or above by College assessment.
A portfolio or show-reel containing recent examples of artwork, sketchbooks, photography work, or any creative work you have done. This could be both course work and work you have created in your own time.
Mature applicants may be considered on relevant experience without having the required entry requirements. However, an interview will always be required.
A satisfactory reference may also be requested.
