Every year is different for this course and what was
recently achieved gives an indication for next year:This year we participated in
workshops with our local art organisation, TURF Arts, students entered and won a
creative competition. We will be using a ‘rotation method’ of lessons to access
specialist workshops.
Three-Dimensional Design is the prototyping and making of
functional or artistic products. We use our special resistant material workshops
to develop creative and practical skills. Student creatives will be challenged
to use woodworking and ceramics to create physical artwork and sculptures and to
record them through digital photo shoots in our own photography
studio.
Fashion Design is a way of applying design and aesthetics
for clothing construction and accessories. It is influenced by culture and
different trends. We show how to get involved in the design process, learn the
impact of fast fashion and how to work towards sustainable practices and apply
‘ideation’ or how to draw fashion sketches. Student creatives will work towards
a client design competition in collaboration with Stanley Arts to showcase
strengths.
Photography is a way to visually capture a moment in time or
else it can be a chosen medium for creative expression. Student creatives will
use our traditional developing workshop and specialist photographic studio to
develop portrait, landscape, long exposure, and macro photography responses.
Experimental developing techniques such as Photograms and Cyanotype are
incorporated leading to a competitive portfolio.
Graphic Design is the ability to communicate through visual
expression in many ways. We focus on typeface design and application,
illustration and printmaking in our specialist silk screen and etching studio.
External trips to creative studios and exhibitions allows opportunity to support
research for what is the biggest area in creative industries.
